After years of formal training as a concert violinist, Dr. Lee studied both biochemistry and English at Cornell University in NY, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Upon completing her Doctorate of Medicine at West Virginia University, she went on to Boston for her general surgery residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center. She attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill for her fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Lee is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is board eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. She has a special interest in new technologies, including minimally invasive techniques, and their application in coronary, valve, and aortic surgery. Dr. Lee has received a variety of accolades. She was named a Howard Hughes Scholar for research at Cornell University. She has published clinical research in journals including the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and Critical Care Medicine and has presented her work at national conferences. As a violinist, she has performed in many concert halls throughout Europe, received state championship performances, and was a teacher of the Suzuki method to many children. Dr. Lee is on the medical staff at St. Elizabeth's and Memorial Hospitals in Belleville, and Heartland Regional Center in Marion, Illinois as well as Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Missouri. |
